Not sure what I was doing wrong, but you guys are right. I reported this bug prematurely. I'm new to this site, is there a way to delete this bug report? I can't seem to find a delete option.

Found a temporary workaround for guests. If they first enter a single player world and swim, then leave and enter the LAN multiplayer world they are able to swim like normal.
