Try this /give {PLAYER} minecraft:barrier

In 1.7 and 1.8 you need to use /give minecraft:{ITEM_NAME}

Go to {DRIVE}:\Users{NAME}\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
or the directory of your minecraft instance.
Then go to the crash-reports folder and find the most recent report.

Open Minecraft.exe not the launcher.pack

Try this in a command block.
