@Matt Mitchell, do you have a family Nintendo account with multiple profiles/users? Our (temp) fix was logging into Mc from a different user on our Switch account AND creating a new Microsoft profile for this profile.

Just want to add in to everyone else, you aren’t alone, we have had the same problem on our Switch since the November 2020 Minecraft update.  Any time loading into Minecraft, it’s stuck on the black screen first for 10 minutes then the red Mojang screen for another 10.  We have done all the troubleshooting (including uninstall and reinstall) except completely deleting all files from cloud.  We also play on an Xbox One and Minecraft loads fine on that.  

Same exact issue we are experiencing on Switch trying to connect to a multiplayer game that has worked in the past also created on a Switch!  This has only been happening since the new Nether update.
