This looks like natural generation of the obsidian since the intended bottom of the portal has a piece of obsidian generated where the side wall of the portal would be.
Umm I can adjust the sensitivity all I want but this still happens even in the max
TEMP FIX (for those who cannot get the game to work): Turn off wifi/cellular data, then open Minecraft, then sign out, then reconnect to wifi/cellular data and then sign back in and boom you are in.
Same happened with my iPad Air 2, I was able to play few hours ago but now it crashes when Xbox gets signed in, v1.2.9
ios 11.2 update is out and the update fixes this bug

When swiping fast, the screen barely moves, i have this glitch too.
[media]I have done some testing and concluded that this is chunk based. The bug is only caused when 32 or more pistons retract at the same time in the same chunk. So you can have as many pistons retracting as you want as long as there is less than 32 per chunk.
