Be sure to do this every time.
Try opening task manager and when minecraft opens right click the launcher and click end task this will fix things (MCL-16059). However, I am not getting my normal skin instead I am alex or steve. This might be a separate issue, though.
This is likely the same issue I am having. Are you seeing 'exit code 0' when the launcher comes back on?
I am also having this issue. This is the second issue with the launcher this week!
