Can't other mobs be teleported a bit further from the portal as to prevent this timer cooldown thing, or at least make the cooldown a little lower like 5-10 seconds? It frustrating like this. Please! This is what is bothering us!
This is not a duplicate, I understand MC-5686, but with horses the problem is even grater. MC-5686 states that an entity's cooldown timer is reset when touching the nether portal, witch I get, is somewhat acceptable. The problem with horses is that when you ride them you can't get trough a portal, you must push them while being beside the horse. If you touch the portal while being on the horse the cooldown on the horse is RESETED UNECESARILY. This is what is frustrating. Please fix this, it is really a bug, and it is not a duplicate!
Fixed in 1.6.2
This is still a bug in 1.6.2, I don't know why it is labeled as resolved, although it doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes a horse can glitch and can't go through a nether portal whether the horse is in the overworld or in the nether. Please reopen the issue, I don't want to post a cloned one. I can also provide a world save to see the issue in action.
Now that I look closely at the people that report this problem, they all seem to have old videocards, DX10, OpenGL 3.3 or older. I'm not sure if all the people that have this hardware have the issue but as far as I can tell that's what they have in common. Does the new lightning engine use a feature that was problematic in that version of OpenGL?
Can confirm low fps in Minecraft 1.5 Java 1.7u17 64 bit
OS: Windows 8 professional 64 bit + latest updates
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 OC@3Ghz
GPU: 8800GT 512MB driver:314.07
RAM: 4GB
Is that enough to reproduce?
It's not a new feature, it's a bug, the cooldown is to long and causes problems that where not intended to happen. Something must be changed! I and other commenters gave some suggestions about how it should actually work. Don't skew the meaning, please, it's a bug, not a feature.
