I made an account just to say that I am also experiencing this issue and that it is frustrating for something so core to the game (ability to crossplay via realms) is blocked by a glitch that has yet to be resolved despite being known for so long. I bought Minecraft for Switch specifically for cross play with my girlfriend, yet clearly I've wasted my non-refundable money. Will be waiting for a permanent solution alongside everyone else here.
