MC-68889 Inventory position glitch Duplicate MC-68267 Void fog not appearing in Overworld Works As Intended MC-68051 Player inventory GUI changes position when Buffs/Debuffs appear/dissappear Cannot Reproduce

This can't be reproduced anymore because the problem has been fixed. I just saw a buff on the side of the inventory GUI where the GUI was still centered even though there was a buff. When the buff went away, nothing changed since the GUI was centered to begin with. In 1.7.10, the GIU and buff info was centered so that when the buff went away, the GUI would have been off center to the right, so the GUI would change location to re-center itself.

I was told back when I first reported this that the GUI changing was just the way it was and it wouldn't be changed. I'm glad to see that I was told wrong and that this has finally been resolved. Having a GUI change location on the user while using it was very frustrating.

Conor McS, I was just going to post the same finding. I was playing with beacon colors (rainbow) and created 32 beacons in a line and found a bunch of beacon beams disappear at once, but not all of them or one at a time. I realized that they were disappearing in groups of 16 on chunk boundaries. I was testing in pre-3.

OK, well, apparently, I can't have a Beacon in my base since having one causes my inventory to shift under my cursor while when I am trying to organize it.

I didn't realize that there was a new minigame built into Vanilla Minecraft where you have to chase your inventory GUI around on the screen to grab items. Pity you don't get experience when you succeed.

Am I to understand that the inventory GUI is supposed to shift around on the screen when the player is trying to use it? Remember, splash potions can cause an inventory screen to shift to the right if there were no buffs/debuffs on the player prior to the splash potion. If a player is trying to get something out of their inventory and it's shifting around on them, how are they supposed to get a specific item?

I read the linked issue and several MOD's agreed that the inventory should stay put until it is closed then reopened.

If this behavior sticks around when 1.8 is released, you are going to be getting a ton of reports of this issue. Players expect the inventory GUI to stay put when they are using it. Its seriously going to cause all kinds of problems if it's not fixed.

It's hard to say if this has been reported since I wouldn't have called carpets on fences something that would hold passive mobs in. Since a player can jump onto such a fence, I would expect a mob to be able to as well. The fact that they were not able to in earlier releases doesn't make this a feature that would be considered a bug if that behavior changed later.

I just checked the 1.8-pre snapshot and put carpet on top of a fence pen, placed 2 of each passive mob in and gave myself wheat and carrots. With the carpets on, I used the mob's breeding food to try to entice them out of the pena and all but the rabbits were not able to escape the pen. (I really expected the other animals (no chickens) to be able to escape as well.) I then took the carpet off the fence and none of the animals were able to escape, even the rabbits.

It may have been a fluke, but in the recent snapshots, if you place carpet on fences like many do to allow player access but not animal, animals seem to be able to jump the fence with the carpet as well.

I found this out the hard way after penning a bunch of sheep in with fences and carpets on top. I found them all over the place a few minutes later and saw them climbing on to the carpet just like players can. I stopped that practice right after that.

I now place all my animals, including rabbits, in 2 deep pits with a single ladder on the upper block. They don't escape due to chunk loading are just as easy to access as the carpet on fence trick.

I may need to revisit this to see if this behavior has changed again, but it was a real sore spot with me earlier.

Jonathan, if Rabbits are to be a resource like Sheep, Pigs and Cows, they need to not teleport. I hope that this new non-teleporting Rabbit is the actual way the Rabbits are supposed to behave. If not, Rabbits will be a very difficult animal to gather resources from.

Issue still exists in 14w34d.

Still is an issue in 14w34d. To make clear. Banner sways in newer map (superflat test map I made) and on an older single player map (made on 8/3/2014) but does not sway in older multiplayer map (made 8/1/2014).

This bug is still present in 14w34d.

Galaxy_2Alex, I just went to 1.7.10 to verify that this problem does not occur and it doesn't.

In 1.7.10, when a buff goes away, the GUI stays where it was generated, "not centered" since the buff info was removed. When you close the inventory screen and then re-open it, the GUI then changed location to be centered.

This is what I would expect 1.8 to do, but so far when the buff goes away, the GUI instantly changes location to reflect the loss of buffs.

I'm sorry to be such a pest, but this issue should not be considered WAI since it's not working the way 1.7.10 is currently working. Unless Mojang is looking to anger a large population of players.

Sorry to be a pest, but why was this not in the release notes? Kind of hard for us testers to tell a bug from something that was removed on purpose.

Also, the higher above a beacon you are, the lower the angle needs to be before the beam disappears. For example, 20 blocks above the beacon, the beam disappears before I even get to looking level much less looking up. At 26 blocks it's ~ -30 degrees (if 0 degrees is looking forward).

A GUI should never change position if user input is requested. The player inventory has plenty of items that should not change location under the users cursor while in use.

Place a half slab on the top half of a block, then place a lever on "top" of that half slab. Now switch the lever. The lever will pop off the half slab.

Luke, try not to forget that you are "testing" a snapshot if you are playing in the snapshot builds. Bugs like this are going to keep on cropping up until Mojang actually releases 1.8.
