Same here, whenever I sleep I get stuck in sleep limbo. Relaunching game gets me up..  19w02a macOS.

No need to logout and back in.. if you go into your inventory, click in the off-hand storage space the amount of placed items will reset.

Originally noticed in pre6, which is when I made the gif.. no change in pre7

Note that if I load a 1.12 map it works fine. (just tested that a minute ago).
