I can confirm this behavior, although it's not really a bug as more of a design flaw if anything.

I cannot reproduce this in 1.9-pre2 on single player, although the dead player twitches back and forth after a second after death.

I cannot reproduce in 1.9-pre2. Made a tunnel like you specified and I didn't fall through.

I can confirm this happens in 1.9-pre2, but only slightly.

Full FPS w/o VSync - 1400 fps
Lighting fire (not on me) or lava - 1350 fps
Getting caught on fire - fluctuates between 1000 and 1150 fps while on fire

Might be expected lag, that's a considerable drop (25% from full) just for getting caught on fire though.

Yes, but the "empty map" is displayed as gibberish. It seems to change too, it's not always the same broken pattern.

Confirmed. Does not have to be through a glass wall. They will always shoot. I do not know if this is designed or not.

I have not had problems since 1.7. I would mark as solved.

Thanks so much for this fix. It only took 2.5 hours 🙂. Glad it works well now. +1 for you Erik.

Erik, moving to Windows is not a proper solution. There is definitely something wrong here. This is not INVALID. Two operating systems on one computer - Ubuntu 13.10 and Elementary OS - one plays MC fine and the other does not. Ubuntu seems to work acceptably for me. On other laptops of mine, however, MC does not run. I have tried running intel-linux-graphics-installer. I got the installer to work on my Ubuntu 13.10 OS before I upgraded to 13.10 (it was at 13.04) and the installer worked fine. However, the installer no longer works on 13.10 or Elementary OS at all. Ubuntu plays MC, Elementary does not, new Ubuntu installations also do not. Mojang and Intel need to not push this problem on each other. I believe a simple "if" in your java code for MC could fix this issue. I regret to ask, but Erik, do you or any of your "assistance" or debug team have a system with this problem? Have you seen this yourself? If not, step 1 found. If so, step 1 also found. Debug MC on that machine.

To you comments before: Yes, MC would work perfectly, PERFECTLY, if our video drivers were perfect. Intel is too stubborn to work with Linux to get this fixed, however. It is possible to fix this problem within MC.

If it worked before in the early snapshots of 1.7, examine what was exactly changed between working versions and not-working versions. If you simply sit back and say "not my problem", you are going to lose many players.

Confirm it does not work on 13w43a. Does not start at all.

samrg472, let me be the first to congratulate you if this was the problem. If it was, could you possibly upload your custom compiled version of lwjgl and list instructions on how to use it?

I have tried this on the same machine with 2 different distro. When using the intel-graphics-drivers-installer, it works on Ubuntu 13.04, however, on Elementary OS, I can't use the intel-graphics-drivers-installer; it does not work. So...

On the same machine, Samsung RV-510

Operating System----------------|------------Ubuntu 13.04---------------|-------------Elementary OS
Intel Drivers Installed?-----------|--------------------Yes-------------------|---------------Can't Install
Minecraft Works?---------------- |--------------------Yes-------------------|---------------------No

Confirmed on
Ubuntu Server 13.04 13w41b Server
and
Xubuntu 13.04 13w41b Client

It does not even allow me to login. Just connecting to server then crashes.

Use Kazam to record screens in linux.

I still have this problem. Any luck so far?

I have given it even more ram and still the same problem. I know believe without a doubt that it has to do with the position the problematic player is in. IE, the problematic person was inside a certain chunk that has some kind of bug. Whenever they log-in, it freezes and crashes. Remember this is an amplified world.

On my original I give it more RAM, it has sufficient RAM. I was running it without the script at this point.

I can confirm, does not work on 13w39b.

I can confirm. Does not work on 13w39a, have not tried on 13w39b but so far its not working still.

Sorry for so much info, I have determined that it has to do with the player's .dat file. For example if I login as me (ZachAttack_4NDP as you can see from the logs) it works okay for a while. However, if I login as my brother (OrangeCamaroSS as you can also see) by renaming his .dat file to my username, it does not work at all. This DOES work for other users though, ie, I rename johnDoe.dat to ZachAttack_4NDP.dat and login, it will work fine. This also happens when my brother logs in as himself, the actual OrangeCamaroSS.dat file, it won't work. Before it has worked where he can log in, but then it crashes later in the game play. His .dat file is now uploaded incase that will help solve the problem.

This world is an AMPLIFIED world as well, don't know if that has to do anything.

Even MORE info this time! I got the debug to start, as I logged in again. See my added attachment marked LOG.log.
