i am having the same issue. since the new update 1.16.2 i cant join my friends worlds any of them and ive tried everything from logging back into my account and i have no resource packs in

no I believe I feel on dirt by the waterfall I was going up the waterfall when I died and feel toward the door area but on the side of the mountain.

I was not near mobs at the time and if there was it was too many items to pick up I believe. there was water around but I inspected all of it but I didn't dig under where I landed no I landed a few blocks up but I did check everywhere around there and nothing.

You can't place water by hand at build limit too. Neither lava. If you place it, you will lose the water or lava.
