This case sounds like a great business case to pick up some company 'VR gear' as you've called it. We, the community, approve the expense. 😉
The Workarounds below were discussed in the comments, for those following the case. I haven't tested them yet:
Mouse input will end the levitation. (Wiggle Mouse)
Leave and Rejoining the current Realm/Game will place you on ground level under where you ended.
Play without tracked hand controllers, as these seem to be the source of the issue.
Play 'flat' Bedrock Edition instead of VR.

Is anybody aware of workarounds to this issue on the current Build? Is there a way to revert to a client version where the issue isn't present?

Is there an estimated release timeline available for this bug? I've had to stop playing on the VR platform since water is so prevalent and the only workaround to get back to the ground is a time-consuming 'Save and Quit' and Relog.
