One of them was unenchanted, the other one had Sharpness V, Knockback II and Fire Aspect II.

You don't have to get your chest/furnace/regular cart back in Creative mode.

Yes, I agree, but monsters still drop items in Creative mode as well, so I think Mojang wants to keep entities dropping in Creative mode.
