Thank you - teleport worked. I did not see the other ticket in my search, so wanted to ensure the bug was captured. Thanks agan!

loaded the update and yes, indeed it does show! mark this as resolved!

  • I updated to the 1.9.0.5 beta released 10-JAN. same issue.

  • i rebooted, then uninsta;led and reimstalled. i set permissions on the app to have whatever it wanted. trimmed junk out of log file; gets interesting around line 317

another attempt at debugging this, but from a terminal and interfacing directly with logcat

[media]

two interesting things pop out (or mean nothing):

Minecraft: Native app engine_term_display

and

AndroidCll-SettingsSync: Could not get or parse settings

using logcay extreme, i launched the game again and was able to trace the pid (31118). this gave me a very consolidated list of related tasks minus the chatter

[media]

interesting reference to LOLLIPOP on line 137 (am on 7.1.2 nouget).

when i stopped loggong the app was still running, but cannot see anything but white screen.

this is a fresh install onto a reflashed tablet. no worlds, no additional resource packs. (because I cannot see anything on the all white screen)

attaching another logcat. this time i reset the video to default, and i trimmed out some of the info messages

ran alogcat while launching MC

attached the output

i found a nifty app called 'screen shift' that allowed me to change my resolution to 1920x1080. long story short, it still shows an all white screen even at nexus7 2013 resolution. :/ was worth a try.

I have access to a Nexus 7 [2013 model] and MCPE works on that device.

the Nexus 7 [2012] does not. The display differences between the two tablets regarding resolution:
nexus 7 2013 @ 1920x1200
nexus 7 2012 @ 1200x800

could this be a resolution disparity between the game and the device?

I took the nexus 7 {2012} back to the last stock OS of 5.1.1. I then installed the minecraft beta. I get the exact same result as the ASOP 7.1.2; white screen at boot, no splash page.

From this test I believe that whatever is causing the problem is not OS related.

is there a program that would test hardware compatibility?

I have tried the uninstall/reinstall. I have also tried the beta (same result).

I have also tried a downgrade with a full wipe to the custom ROM to August 2018 (same result).

I have also played around with developer options around hardware GPU acceleration and MSAA4, also with no change in result.

is there a way to increase logging while the app starts? Or, how about a way to lock in the resolution? the most frustrating part about this is that it is working behind the scenes, but you cannot see it displayed!

alternately, is there an apk from before the 11-DEC-2018 release that i can use as a reference (as it worked prior to the current release)?

i first encountered this with the beta released on 7-Nov-2018. the beta released 15-Nov-2018 also had the same problem.

Nexus 7 2012 edition has an NVidia tegra 3 renderer, supporting OpenGL ES 2.0, but not OpenGL 3.0 or higher.

update: launched and waited a while (5+ minutes) the screen started flashing black/white. I tapped the screen and heard clicking. i pressed the android back button and the screen cleared, and i was then prompted for my microsoft id and password. after supplying that info, it went back to rhe flaahing black/white screen. i can hear the clicking when I tap the screen. video is just white/black flashing.

i checked the cpuinfo on the nexus 7 and it shows support for Neon.
