I am experiencing this same issue on the PS4, and a friend is having the same problem (PS4 as well). We used to play online together but have been unable to do so. It started for him right after the update. I was able to play on my system a few times but it crashed a couple times. When I restarted after the most recent crash, it just froze on the red logo screen, game never loads. I've tried closing the game, restarting the PS4, still no luck.

This just happened to me. I played a world I haven't played in a little while. It was last played before the recent update (PS4). My map had been stored in a chest and I noticed it said "unknown map". Curious I selected it and tried to put it in my personal inventory and the whole game crashed kicking me out to the PlayStation menu. So not only is my map useless now, if anyone touches it the game fails. Please fix!
