I also had this problem. Sometimes when I tried to start JAVA EDITION, it would download the BEDROCK EDITION update and would often get stuck unless I opened Microsoft Store then force closed both Microsoft Store and Minecraft Launcher using Task Manager then reopened Minecraft Launcher

I've recently started experiencing this bug in 1.21.30.
If I import a skin from a .png file and select it then restart the game, my skin will reset to the default Steve skin, however, if I select a skin from the marketplace then restart the game, my skin will stay as the one I selected.
