I'm having the exact same issue with items automatically being picked up when the inventory is full and just disappearing. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S5, Lollipop 5.0 and version 0.13.0.
I've looked at MCPE-9960 and I don't believe it's the same. This issue is nothing to do with using chests or furnaces. It's when it has been mined or items dropped from killing entities.
