I am using Wayland, as my current Xorg install is broken. Thanks everyone who helped in the comments. I do hope MC-178267 gets fixed, because its now the default on Debian.

Seems like MC-178267 describes my issue. How do I close?

Lag is not noticeable with fullscreen. I attached a screenshot showing me spamming esc in non-fullscreen mode. After changing into fullscreen the lag returns.

Tried using Java 8 and reinstalling drivers, same issue.

MC-170091 seems like the fps is low while in inventory, but it is stable while in inventory. I only get lag when opening or closing, not while idle.

I'll try reinstalling drivers and using a different version of Java.
