Adding a +1 to the many people experiencing this. Trying to upload a 715MB world from my Xbox One that I made in 2019 to realms so I can download it to PC and preserve it. My Xbox is only getting older, I'm worried about eventually experiencing the notorious cloud desync problems or save corruption in general, and frankly I just want to be able to have my world files and be able to actually back them up myself, not just make copies on the same aging system. My fault for using a system that doesn't let me access my own data, but whatever, lesson learned. Anyways, I try to upload the world, and the export works fine (as far as I can tell), but then the upload progress bar goes really fast - like 100 megaBYTES / sec fast - my internet is not nearly that capable. The Xbox is connected to my router via an ethernet cable, btw. AT&T, usually get 30-50Mbps download and 5-20 Mbps upload. After the progress bar shows that the full file has been "uploaded" (which only takes several seconds at these inaccurate speeds), it sits there for ~15 minutes before failing with the "An error occurred" message. I have tried to upload the world probably 20 times now, and after I started timing the attempts I've found that the time to failure is approximately 15 minutes every single time after the upload starts.
Some other notes:
My realm subscription is the lower tier, myself +2 players.
Sometimes the file size in the upload bar is off by 0.1MB either too large or too small. Ex: Let's say the world is 715.6MB, the progress bar might say that it has uploaded 715.7MB, or other times 715.5MB. Other times though it is right on.
The file size is also not always consistent when I try to upload it. I'd say it can vary by about +/- 1 MB from upload attempt to upload attempt. Sometimes it might say the full file size it needs to upload is 714.9 MB, other times 715.something.
The world loads up and plays just fine in singleplayer from the locally stored copy.
I have successfully uploaded a small test world (~2.5MB) from my Xbox to the realm.
I have also successfully uploaded a 600MB world from my PC to the realm. The PC was plugged into ethernet, same conditions as the Xbox when it's plugged in. The progress bar moved at a much more reasonable pace. This upload took about 11 minutes, and then it sat there for about another 1.5 (which I suppose was step 3 listed in CornerHard's comment at the top of this page). After that I got the "Let's Go!" button and all seemed fine.
The world has no resource packs. Since the beginning of the world it has been 100% vanilla Minecraft.
I have tried the mobile hotspot workaround on my Xbox. It failed (not that my regular internet speeds are blazing fast to begin with). Even when connected via hotspot (about 3Mbps download and upload) the upload progress bar still moved at about 100MB/s and then sat there for 15 minutes before failing, as before.
Realms in general seems to just not work for me. In addition to this problem, I also cannot even close the realm. When I try to do so (either on my Xbox or my PC), it spins for about 20 seconds before telling me "Unable to connect to Realm. / Failed to close realm." I've tried this probably ten times now between today and yesterday.
I also cannot use the "Activate world" button (though it was working yesterday, not sure what changed). Now when I try to activate one of the two worlds that isn't the current one, it will pull up "Fetching realm information ..." and then sit there forever. Strangely though, if I use "Edit world" on one of the currently inactive ones, it will fetch the realm information very quickly, pull up the edit menu, and then when I back out that world will be the active one. So I just don't know. Many problems with this service. I just want to be able to back this one world up and then I can finally move on from my Xbox.
I started the realms subscription yesterday afternoon. Same problems tonight as yesterday, aside from the Activate World button also not working now.
