@[Mod] fienxjox - Is the carpent on top of a fence method still valid in the latest snapshots? I revisited one of my "old" worlds that took advantage of this and I experience as mass exodus of cattle and sheep...
Anyway, back to the discussion topic. I believe the entities are able to escape because when they are pressed up against a wall or fence, their hitboxes partially merge with the wall, making it so that they are partially inside the block. When you leave the area and come back, the entity is rendered inside of the block and can move around within it freely until it exits, similar to you pushing a block into your feet with a piston. However, this is just my theory.
