I just experienced the issue this morning on 1.12. I was playing on my XBOX ONE X on a realm and got stuck when teleporting back to the main end island. My screen stayed on the dark gray skybox that shows when teleporting. I could turn but I couldn't interact with the environment and a thrown ender pearl did nothing. After a few minutes of being stuck, I closed the game and re-opened it and when I attempt to open the realm it is stuck on the "Building terrain" message. I tried loading the realm in Windows 10 but I get the same result. Minimizing and then maximizing the window has no effect either.
The realm was created after 1.11 and we just beat the ender dragon last night on 1.12.
This happened to me twice today and once before. Playing on a realm on Xbox One.
I was able to fix my issue by leaving the realm and having the owner send me a new invite. I'm in the End underneath the gateway. We were originally going to roll back to a backup of the realm, but most of the backups are showing as 0.0 MB, which I see is a separate issue.
For now I'll go back to the old method of bridging to the islands and ignore the gateways.
