Stuck in the Loading Screen (After entering End Gateway Portal)

Same here. Blank bedrock on iOS. Survival. All is lost.

This is more or less world corruption, best way i have found to resolve this is open up the world with world edit, go to your player data, and move your player from dimension 3 to dimension 0. This is will allow you to load the world, and you will be in the overworld.

This is a severe bug, and absolutely needs a (nice and complete) hot fix. This combined with MCPE-41533 and MCPE-19699 more or less ruins the end dimension. Pretty major failure on the bug finding and fixing team here :/

Sadly this is on the Switch so I am replying on a patch from Mojang.

Just here to confirm this is a new bug in 1.9.0. Happens to Xbox one and Win10 as well, please update ticket info to include those systems.
Even if you don't get the world loading issue the portal will still kill you throwing all your stuff into the void. Do not attempt to use the End gateway portals.

I had to grab 12 stacks of blocks and make a 1x1 bridge out to the islands.

Consider renaming the ticket! The primary issue here is the End gateway portals causing the bug. The way the ticket is named there will be many duplicates as this issue appears unrelated.

In testing the portals are sticking you in an endless teleport loop. Turning on show coordinates when you throw the enderpearl in gives the following results. Your coordinates rapidly alternate between the two portals. (verified by making the 1x1 bridge as described above). The portal activation sound plays repeatedly stacking on top of itself over and over. This "movement" rapidly drains your hunger+saturation, You'll take suffocation damage and eventually die. The problem is you're not "in" the bedrock long enough to consistently take damage. This leads people to think the game is just glitching and to re-log. Then when trying to log in the game hangs on load because it can not find a valid spawn block.

To those stuck in this loading issue: attempt to make a realm out of the world. I was able to get the world to load once I made it into a realm. It logged me in after 2-3 min, with no XP or gear, at my respawn point. I'm assuming it "killed me" in the extended login. To confirm the portal still will NOT work so don't attempt it. but at least the world could be loaded. Re-download the world from the realms server and you have you world back. Just no End functionality.

Thank you very much for the information. It would be really nice to recover my world, even if access to the End Gateway is unavailable for the time being. However I have a question, does this mean I need to pay to create a Realm in order to fix this issue? If so, I think I would rather wait for the patch 😞

For a while they were offering a free realm trial. I'm not sure if it included the switch.  Even if you did that I can't guarantee it would even work for you. I might have just been lucky.  They have officially confirmed this as a bug so you might be better off waiting for a patch. Though if MCPE-21856 is any indication the fix might take a while.

had a break from the game then came back and found my mob farms not working, spent about 4 days rebuilding.... went or a jaunt into the End...stuck in a black limbo... now game just hangs on 'Generating World' .

Should there not be a big warning about this on Youtube?

Can you “copy world” in the world settings to duplicate all blocks and areas explored in the world, or would this keep you stuck in the portal. Maybe you could do this, but activate cheats to see if teleportation works or not

Well I can't even load the world.
The thing is, the game auto saves every 10 or so minutes, why isn't there a way to load the 'previous ' auto save? what's the point in having it if we can't access it.?
surely Mojang could just do that for us while they're looking at it . We could at least carry on.Im having enough problems finding fixes for my farms etc , with most of Youtube content being years old, therefore not working anymore.

Same issue. I put hours into a world, got stuck in the gateway, and now my world won't load. It would really suck to lose this world. It seems like lots of people have been complaining about this in multiple different posts, but still none have been addressed. Yippee.

Effects all versions.

Workaround confirmed on Xbox One (Bedrock 1.9.0). Respawned the ender dragon and killed him again. This created a new end portal. Successfully went through the new end portal and came back without glitching.

For anyone that has a world that won't load now - would you be able to upload a copy of it here please?

• On Windows 10 you can use the Export world feature.

• On Android or iOS you need to use a file explorer to navigate to Device storage > games > com.mojang > minecraftWorlds

• On Xbox or Switch the only way is to upload it to a Realm, and then download the world on Windows 10 or Android/iOS.

If the world is larger than 10MB you can upload the world to OneDrive or a similar file sharing site, and then share the link.

I gave up and cancelled the insider programme, 're installed Minecraft. Now I can't load my world's as they were saved in Beta and won't let me load a world 'saved in a newer version '.!!
I managed to load a older save of that world after converting it.
There was nothing I could do as the bugged world wouldn't even load as there was no block to spawn me on.? never mind resetting the Dragon.

Oh.. and couldn't upload it to a realm as realms don't work on Xbox beta!!

I had the same issue, but I reloaded a dozen times until it let me back in so I could die and respawn.
I've now made it to The End outer islands by building a bridge, but I've wandered for about 10,000 blocks without seeing a single city.

If 'Mega_spud would like to give a step by step description of uploading the Xbox world to One drive and sending a link I'd be grateful. also how to contact him/her would be useful.

Can anyone recommend a free and save file explorer for iOS? Couldn't find one, which isn't behind a pay wall or/and doesn't spy on my personal data. Would like to help, but not under unsure circumstances. Honestly: it should be easier to exchange a map (especially to support devs) = e.g. an in-game "send to mojang"-feature.

Sameeee, I’m really upset 😠 because of this update, I just finished building a village and I needed more shelled boxes so I went and it just turned black, then reloaded waited like 35 min nothing happened

We have discovered that at least in some of these cases, the world isn't actually corrupted fatally. If you get stuck on the "Generating world" UI, the problem isn't that the world won't open; it actually has. The problem is that the game is having a renderer failure and doesn't overwrite the UI and menus.

On Windows 10, you can minimize the game window and restore it, and the renderer will be fixed temporarily. I can't test this on mobile or console, but sending the game to the background and restoring it might work on those platforms. If you are able to get into the world and then get yourself out of the portal (by ender pearling, for example), you can save the world, exit the game, and reload the world and it should behave as before, with no damage done. (The gateway bug that causes this problem will still exist, though.)

@unknown: Thank you for the copy of your world. I was able to recover it using the method described in the comment above.

Im on Windows 10 and was able to successfully load the world by using this "minimize the window" technique. Once it loads, however, Im stuck in blackness unable to escape. Ender pearls did nothing and now im out. I cant place items. It looks like i could starve myself to death, which I personally will hold off on doing since my enchanted items would be diffucult to build back up. But a pathway to recovery at least!

I’m not in windows, is there a way to do it on iPhone

So is there still not a fix for the Xbox One? I have attempted to send the application to the background by opening other applications and the home screen, but when I reopen it is still stuck loading. Is there another way?

I'm having this same issue on an xbox one world. It really makes me mad because it's a city world that my friends and I have been working on for over 2 years!! But, nobody ever opened an ender portal in it. All I remember is playing on the world and then the next day minecraft updated to 1.9 and that's when problems started. It gets stuck on generating world and as Auldrick stated, its probaly having a render failure. I have no way of fixing it yet,  and I cant get realms becuase I opened it in beta version. please let me know if you guys have another fix.

UPDATE I managed to buy a realm and upload a copy of my world to it in the 1.9 version. I was so happy to finally have my world back but then realms crashed. I tried to get back in but now the realm is doing exactly what my xbox is doing. It says "generating world"

You could upload the world export. If it is more than 10MB, and it probably is if it's two years old, you may have to use a third party host. hopefully the more corrupted worlds they receive the quicker they can pinpoint the issue and fix it.

The realms thing has worked, but, unfortunately, if you do that it disables achievements and the like. I just was hoping for a fix that didn't involve that.

@Parker: Realms should not disable achievements. The only way to disable achievements is to enable cheats or creative in that world.

It also helps if you let someone else trow an ender pearl in the portal. You will start taking suffocation damage and lose all your stuff but at least you can play again

I stopped waiting around for this to be fixed. I just summoned the Ender Dragon and fought it again. The new portal that appears after the fight actually works.

@Mitchell this solution will not work reliably for everyone. If the outer end islands have been explored where the new portal takes you to it will fail with the same results. To be safe anyone re-fighting the dragon I would not trust any additional portals in the same general direction as the first one. I.E. if the first one is in the NW corner don't trust a North or West one. However if it generates in the SE corner you're probably safe. Reference confirmed bug MCPE-19699

While waiting I post a workaround here, too.

For all others the trick with the realm is working for IOS. Should be mentioned or pinned under possible workarounds. 

If you got a broken save game upload it into the realm, join the realm, switch to hard mode, die because of starvation (jumping may make it faster due random damage from blocks), respawn, exit realm, download world out of the realm. Voila! If you have loading issues while dealing with the corrupted save, especially while joining the realm, try over and over again, even with the very first step. I tried for an hour. 

And if you are a lucky one with an ender pearl left and don’t wanna loose your stuff, you can try to get out and if failing try it over and over again, too. I said good bye to my gear. (Sadly the full armour and trident, pick and so on, are not the worsed, my 300 rockets are, so hard to get gun powder)

And don’t be foolish to use an end portal again, until the issue is fixed.

I succeeded in solving my problem with the portal (in a game with cheating on) by eating chorus fruit - it teleported me away from the broken portal to the end city. It's just one more issue to solve - that fruit grows on only one place in the game - you know where, end city of course.

Is there any idea on when they plan to fix this issue. I would like to play the world I have put so many hours worth of work into. I was in the middle of a massive project when this bug placed me into a black abyss and now I'm unable to load the world. Maybe if Mojang would spend less time rushing to add more content and more time avoiding bugs that completely mess up the game. Take your time and properly TEST the game before you release an "update" and this won't happen. Day 1 of Game Programming 101 should have explained this process.

@Matt According to moderators here the problem was been resolved in 1.11.0.3 (internal testing version). So when 1.11 releases to us it'll be fixed.

@Matt its a multi-edge sword, put out just bug fixes people complain, take too long to put out an update to get the bugs fixed first people complain, send it out too soon with bugs people complain, put out new content people complain. Over a million players SOMEONE will complain no matter how fast or how slow. That's why we have Betas and snapshots. Try playing those and report the bugs you find before it goes live.

@shelly, it doesn’t matter, that is a pretty MAJOR BUG. It literally corrupts you’re world. That needs to be fixed FAST.

Does anyone after rescuing the world (in my case via the realm trick) with entities dont appearing at all? (Except of throwing your stuff out of the inventory)? So my game is still broken...

I had a backup save, but It was from 6 months ago. On a 5 year old world. Losing 6 months is better than losing the whole thing but I'd like the original to work again. If what Brian says is true then I'll hold to a little bit of hope.

@unknown - Are you able to provide some more information about the problem in 1.11.0.4 Beta? As far as I can see the worlds provided will open again now in the latest beta.

A valid workaround (as mentioned by @unknown above] is to minimise and reopen the app, if the game gets stuck in the loading screen.

While I was experimenting with this issue in 1.11.0.4 (before I updated to 1.11.0.5) I noticed that if you were already stuck in an end gateway,  If you had memorized the coordinates of the main island gateway's top block (above the gateway block), use /setblock to turn it into air, then use /kill to kill yourself

Sadly this issue hasn't been resolved in the latest patch. I feel really bad, knowing I lost an almost 2 year old world because of a bug.

It works. I got my world back. As soon as the 'generating world' message popped up, I minimized the app,(before the green loading bar had even showed up) then reopened it, and it loaded. So glad to have it back. I'm on xb1 x btw.

I’m still sad I lost my world, but after deleting all other maps there was a copy of my real one but it was in creative so no achievements, BUT it was like 2 months back, So I had my world but it had a lot of work missing. But I’m happy I can play.

@Jaron thank you so much for the tip. Even though I am playing on Nintendo Switch, I decided to insist doing that. I reloaded my world 3 times and I minimized the game, opened the eShop. The first two times I could hear some ingame sounds but no image.

In my third attempt, I loaded my save and as soon as the "Generating World" popped up, I opened the eShop. Waited for a few seconds, returned to the game, and then opened the eShop again. When i returned to the game, it had succesfully loaded after almost a month stuck in the same place. I wasn't dead and I could keep all my items (Elytra, rare armor etc). 

Thanks again for the tip, and I also suggest other Nintendo Switch users to do the same. Thank you Mojira Mods and Users who helped me and many others through this, and to the Minecraft Team for the patch 🙂

Ohh that’s good Gabriel. I wanted to ask if anyone would happen to know a way to do that on mobile devices. (iPhone)

@Gabriel, happy to help. I did forget to mention I also got to keep my inventory, and wasn't dead. Hopefully everyone with this issue will see this and get their world back.

Well, a better solution without killing yourself is following:

If you are able to load your world via the upload to a realm-trick, you can free yourself by using the teleport command: https://www.digminecraft.com/game_commands/tp_command.php 

If you remeber the direction of your end portal correctly, you have a chance of landing on the main end island, if you shift your destination by a few dozen blocks. 

Of cause you loose all all your achivements, but you got your world back without dying and lossing your stuff.

On my other world, this seems fixed in 1.11.0.8

I just experienced the issue this morning on 1.12. I was playing on my XBOX ONE X on a realm and got stuck when teleporting back to the main end island. My screen stayed on the dark gray skybox that shows when teleporting. I could turn but I couldn't interact with the environment and a thrown ender pearl did nothing. After a few minutes of being stuck, I closed the game and re-opened it and when I attempt to open the realm it is stuck on the "Building terrain" message. I tried loading the realm in Windows 10 but I get the same result. Minimizing and then maximizing the window has no effect either.

The realm was created after 1.11 and we just beat the ender dragon last night on 1.12.

I was able to fix my issue by leaving the realm and having the owner send me a new invite. I'm in the End underneath the gateway. We were originally going to roll back to a backup of the realm, but most of the backups are showing as 0.0 MB, which I see is a separate issue.

For now I'll go back to the old method of bridging to the islands and ignore the gateways.

Resolving this issue as fixed. For any similar issues (for example on Realms) please add a vote and comment to an existing or new ticket.
