It doesn't work in 1.7.10 either. I know I would've heard it, since the credits.ogg I used in my Resource Pack is a bit on the loud side (and my speakers tend to make things louder, so 100% is like playing a rock guitar through a super amp)
I tested the credits/end poem a total of 10+ times on MC, and it still didn't play
