Ok, so I loaded up Minecraft this afternoon and went onto 1.9 and lone behold sound now seems to work as does the subtitles. I am pretty sure there has been no new updates for Minecraft since the full release and therefore I can only conclude there was a system fault. The change I have made with my system was to uninstall a program called relevant knowledge which is apparently a piece of adware found on many machines. You can find it in your program lists, I uninstalled it and that could've been affecting Minecraft (just a theory but it is worth a try).
Yes I can confirm too that the bug still exists, I got a new computer around the middle of last year which helped a lot (higher render distance could be used) however I only use 8 chunks and in the 15w42a snapshot my gold farm spawned few pigmen at 8 chunks so I have to crank it up to 16 in order to get rates working.
I tried F3+t but that never worked.
I attached an up to date crsh report above, if you need it in a different way please let me know.
I gave these above steps a go but that did not work either.
Ok so I tried the link when it was first sent but I got no response when I typed my question in (I did wait quite a long time but then had to go. I tried the link again a few days ago but now it says the web page has been taken down or temporarily removed so for now that option is not viable. Again I believe this issue is a bug as opposed to a system fault since subtitles don't work either but then again that may just be me.
Ok thank you
Thanks for your advice but I am sure I have the updated version of java and I did reinstall Minecraft and made sure I used the msi.Installer but that hasn't seemed to have worked.
Thanks very much
ok, will do this
I don't believe I use that. I quickly searched online to find out about it but I don't use it as far as I'm aware.
Here is the crash report

ok, will do that, I'm really sorry I don't understand your last question
It didn't work, I have no idea what else it could be, like I said sound works on all other versions of Minecraft but the two latest snapshots. I might post a video on it to demonstrate the issue.
ok, I have no resource packs but I will try the f3+t command
Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated 🙂
Does anyone know of any 1.8 mods which counter this bug? Mods which increase mob spawning?
This problem is still in the game. I changed my render distance to a higher value and my entity count tripled. While on a 3 chunck render distance and on Hard mode I went caving and there was 9 entities in total and I had none spawning in the caves.
I have been affected by this issue too. I found that upon re-logging the next set of water bottles would be allowed through to brew but this did not fix the issue and any further bottles were prevented from going through.
