just confirmed it with my mom, who has no mods on her vanilla launcher either, and it's the same for her. She always uses the twitch or technic launchers for modded, cos she plays specific packs. I have no mods any more since all the mods I had were for 1.12.2 forge. So... This issue is still completely unresolved.
One issue with your "invalid launcher" opinion, I'm afraid... ALL I did was download 1.13, and the only modification made ANYWHERE is setting the assigned ram to 7 gig.
I have NO modifications to the server that could affect hunger, and since it's on the vanilla launcher, with no changes, it cannot be invalid by means of modification.
Hell, I don't even know what CAUSES it... Only that it effectively means that I have peaceful+monsters for no apparent reason.
Had this issue until today, when the guy who's hosting my server files for me suggested taking out the server resource pack. Did that, then didn't get kicked with an io exception until a little while after I logged in. break in writing comment as I double check the length of time Ok, looks like it was ~9 minutes, where beforehand it was 5 seconds, if that. Sometimes I wouldn't even get the update spam for some of my plugins before it kicked me. This ONLY happened once I tried to apply the resource pack from ingame only.
apparently on the server it's thanks to a hidden feature of a plugin we have, but it doesn't explain it occurring on singleplayer
