Thank you for the suggestion, but I tried it and this doesn't seem to be the solution. I didn't have any iron ore in inventory, even though the animation made it appear I had picked some up. When I went to the furnace, the gold ore appeared, but no iron ore. I tried dropping everything in my inventory, but when I went to the furnace, nothing appeared. I tried mining iron ore again, but am still having the same problem that the iron ore drops, but doesn't appear in inventory when I pick it up. I don't seem to have the same problem with mining gold ore.
