This issue appeared on my PS4 26/09/2020, just after the 2.16 update.
05/12/2020: Micrecraft version 2.18. Still not working!
So I did the following steps making the game working again (including all the former user data!)
1) SAVE OLD USER DATA
-Format an USB stick (extended FAT32)
-Stick it in one of the two USB ports at the front
-Settings | Application Saved Data Management | Saved data in System storage | Copy to USB Storage device
Choose the proper USB storage device (your stick)
Choose 'Minecraft'
Select all
The files are copied to the USB Stick
Now back to the main menu
2) UNINSTALL
Choose 'Minecraft' and press 'options' touch on the controller
Choose DELETE
3) INSTALL
Re-install the game:
Insert the minecraft CD OR upload the file from your PSN account and install the game
4) COPY OLD USER DATA TO SYSTEM STORAGE (ON THE PS4 CONSOLLE)
-Settings | Application Saved Data Management | Saved data on USB storage device | Copy to System Storage
Choose USB storage device
Choose 'Minecraft'
Select all
Overwrite files if asked
Minecraft , version 2.18
Support: Disc
Console: PS4, system software: 8.01

Patched version 2.18 yesterday (17/11/2020): SAME ISSUE, STILL NOT WORKING
Freezing at the Mojang logo with red background!
Just wondering: I see 3 Minecraft data files under 'System storage'. These files are saved on the console (I don't have a PS+ abonnement). If I plug an USB harddisk, save the files on it, uninstall the game, reinstall it. Should it be possible to retrieve the data files from the USB harddisk?
Is there someone who has tried it?
This key combination doesn't work for me. And what kind of solution is it? L1 + R1 + L2 + R2 + Option + Touch Pad button combo ... really? Should I sacrify a chicken at the same time to be sure ?
The game does not start anymore. This after last update 2.16. Freezes on red Mojang logo screen (see mojang.jpg) Since 26/09/2020
