Same problem - the second 1.16.1 came out, I could no longer access my realm
Commenting again since it's been about two weeks now since the update and we haven't been able to play at all. To confirm, we loaded the nether in our realm for the first time after update 1.16, and that is when the problems with loss of progress began. Loss of progress is not limited to progress in the nether itself.
I'd really like to be able to play minecraft again, and as this issue is so widespread, it is odd to me that it's still an issue after two weeks. Will we be refunded if this persists?

I was having this issue all yesterday too after updating to 1.16, but asĀ of 1.16.1 I can no longer connect at all
Confirming this is happening on 1.20.1
