This issue still persists in the latest 21w11a snapshot and official release of 1.16.4. It's a shame skeleton traps are just not as threatening as they used to be. If the ridden entity inherits the speed of the rider, couldn't you just increase the movement speed of the skeleton rider to bring back the original speed of the skeleton trap?

Having difficulty launching older snapshot to see if this was previously present in 21w10a. But I don't remember having mini-lag spikes the last time I played 21w10a. This issue might be a result of the fix for MC-12363

Me and my friends are getting this issue like crazy on a multiplayer server. It happens most when we are flying fast with an elytra and fireworks in the overworld. (1.16.1)

My issue does not resemble the issue in MC-184885. First my issue was incorrectly labeled as a duplicate of MC-147516 and now it has been changed to a duplicate of MC-184885. My issue is most likely related to MC-2310. I think you should reopen my issue.

@unknown made a comment on MC-147516 that these issues relating to the attack ranges of mobs could be related to this issue.

I attempted to make an individual issue to the bug shown in the video. MC-184710

If you think that this issue does not address the above, you should reopen my issue. Now that it seems this issue might be fixed in 1.16 (It was assigned to Searge 4 hours ago) you might as well get to fixing the issue in the videos as its very similar.

Still in 20w21a. Test with:

/summon minecraft:skeleton_horse ~ ~ ~ {SkeletonTrap:1b}

Skeleton horses move far slower than normal see MC-161108

 

This video gives a much better example. The baby zombie and vindicator are faster than the players backward walking speed. When they catch up to me and attempt to hit me, they fail to because they stop moving before they get close enough to hit me. https://streamable.com/hph3g1

I am not entirely sure if 1.14 made this issue worse for all mobs. This issue suddenly became greatly exaggerated for wolves after 1.14 (see MC-155172) 1.14 Could of changed this for other mobs too. And now its just been sitting in the game unfixed. I do remember baby zombies being a lot more deadly in earlier versions of minecraft. Now because of this they are far less threatening.

I have created a new issue on this MC-184710 that does a much better explanation of what is causing this. I am unsure if it was even introduced in 1.14. This is also not isolated to baby zombies. You can just close this issue.

Yes this seems to be the same issue as MC-172166. For some reason I thought jumping was the main cause. Did not know it always happens.

I also recommend you give the piglin a sword to see the issue more clearly. But the bug mainly affects piglins who spawn with swords.

Just tested this on 19w38b singleplayer and it appears to still occur with boats. The boat even teleported back to the position it used to be in and stayed there without letting me get in. I was forced to save and quit and start up my world again

Can confirm for 1.14.4.
