Having the same issue here, also in a iPad Pro 9.7-inch. Do not want to delete and re-install Minecraft and lose all the worlds.
Seems to be related to the Xbox-live account. If I delete the ”xal” and the ”minecraftpe” folder I get logged out and after that I can actually start the app but as soon as I login the app crashes and then it continues to crash everytime I start the app
