just added extra footage.
when spawning on soul sand next to lava, they do not walk away from it, but instead walk into the lava, when entities push the mob near the lava, it also does not try to get away from it. you can also lure the mobs into lava, which is okay for zombies but not for any friendly mob.

this is not personal. as you can see from the many comments, this does not follow basic rules. as above said, it is just because they are too lazy.
yes, FINALLY its fixed! i died in hardcore because of this. had to reset my position.
this bug is definitely not fixed, as can be seen from the footage i just uploaded. this was on the latest snapshot, 20w10a. Please fix this, and dont do nothing until you cant reproduce it anymore, because code does not change without someone changing it.

to fix this issue, the hitboxes of eggs should be shrunk down to their actual size and eggs should be gravity affected or break in any way when they do not have supporting blocks. also, the hitbox check works as intended, but i know for sure this feature was not intended.
