Oh this started happening to me again just recently. Actually, I was the one who posted the issue MCPE-188414 and the exact same thing started up again recently. I tried killing my chickens before saving but they still came back. Then I tried moving my chickens to a different chunk and saved. They were back at base and not near the new area when I went back. I even tried re-moving my chickens to another chunk then moving myself to a third chunk so me, my chick's, and my base were in 3 entirely different chunks. Still put them back. And had major lag so all those actions took forever!
Oh and also @GoldenHelmet I do NOT have villagers in my area. Just the magical zombie chickens, other animals that respawned, trader llama dude, big Garden not growing anything, 3 larger buildings (disassembled the faulty barn in hopes to reduce lag) and a bunch of storage chests
