What I forgot to mention is that they did breed, just didn't give the love hearts.
I noticed recently that I experience most of my issues when the game is saving.
Anytime the save icon is in the corner, the game tends to freeze or lag. If there’s significant action (i.e a lot of mobs or if I’m going through a nether/end portal) it will actually freeze up. If there’s not a lot going on, it will lag so that I don’t see game updates (i.e. I’ll mine a block and it will still show visible even though I can move through that space).
Also when I click Save and Quit, the save process takes a long time. The progress gets stuck on the “Loading Resources” phase. Once it moves to “Saving World” phase, it moves quickly again.
