This bug appears to be fixed as of the last Launcher update.

@ampolive Not exactly, however it does apply, this is more about the failure to save the world after making changes to it. As listed in my screenshot there isn't a full level.dat folder so the game doesn't count it as a world.

As a temporary solution to this issue, rename the most recent date modified level file to level.dat then load the world. This should load the world as it was when you quit. You will have to do this every time you load into a world and some things might be misplaced or scattered.

More specifically, level.dat isn't saving. Instead, it has a series of files called level followed by a string of numbers. For existing worlds, this means that inventories won't save upon exiting. As listed below, is a save of mine with the level.dat missing and the string of numbers in place instead.
