Can confirm this bug inside realms. I've tried to equip wolf armor in two different realm servers and it doesn't work. Went to a single player world and it worked.

Looks like the trap door is being water logged. But it does not stop the water like you want it to. You might need to use pistons with the extended piston head to stop the water from flowing.
