Jungle saplings are not working either. I have narrowed it down to corrupted region/poi files. I found an area of my world where I did not build on yet. I deleted the region and poi files for that region, went back to the area and trees grow fine again. (Do not do this in an area that you have built in, it will revert everything back to the way it was when you first found it)
