Is the device really old? The battery might degrade, which leads to some performance issues. I have a refurbished iPad Air (bought in 2016) and fps is terrible, even with all the settings tuned down.

Can confirm that this also happens on iOS (iPad Air, iOS 12.4, Bedrock v1.14.20).
Only experienced this a few times though, especially when playing in servers (bought the game today - as of the time I'm writing this comment).

UPDATE: The game sometimes crashes on startup. Other times it loads the Mojang logo, then a white screen. Could just be due to my device being really old though.
