I had a similar issue where I couldn't sleep in a bed a few blocks off the ground on slabs. I believe this is because there isn't anywhere (solid) at the bed level to put you when you get out. It used to just drop me to the side of the bed and I'd fall the 2 blocks to the ground.

I noticed this also while draining a large patch of ocean. I have 5-wide sections, 32 blocks deep and 66 blocks long, I could place a block one below the surface and one away from the wall in the center of the 5 blocks, then put a sponge, then do 3 blocks and another sponge. I could also have 3 blocks in between each layer vertically, so 3 down from the last sponge and another sponge. now I can only have 2 blocks between horizontally and just one block between layers vertically. Hopefully this gets fixed.

Is there, by chance, a lava source block anywhere nearby? I've had a weird thing like this happen near water source blocks. You don't have to be touching the water/lava, just near it. I believe it's changing the camera's FOV, not actually moving it.
