Noticed strange sounds after updating to 1.4.2. Weird sounds similar to electric arc sound appeared, that heard oftenly all the time. Not high-frequency chirps from bats. Maybe it is intended and caused by new walking on grass/dirt/gravel sounds from mobs, but quite creepy.
Also using Mac OS.
Related to MC-378. Other transparent block such as signs, however, don't cause z-fighting, but go through chest cover.
Is this occurs in multiplayer only? Looks like client-side prediction when latency is high. The same causes squids fly in air. Client extrapolates position of moving entities by treating that it moves with constant (vector) speed as it knows last time.
However, prediction can be improved to follow rails, instead of just extrapolating linearly, for entities that bound to rails (like player riding in minecart).
For me, occurs only sometimes, keyboard becomes unresponsive, until activating another window and then Minecraft window back, after which keyboard starts to work correctly (not for single keypress, but for long time).
Starts to become unresponsive after nothing special, just playing.

Occuring for me every time (when described conditions apply: air block surrounded by opaque blocks from all sides except bottom, and ladder placed). 1.4.2, Mac OS 10.8.2, java 1.6.0_37.

Texts on signs reappeared after disconnecting and reconnecting to server.
