I seem to be having very similar problems with my Minecraft Account. It's entirely possible this is a problem on Nintendo's side and not necessarily Mojang, but I can't say for sure.
However, I have seemed to notice that this is fairly random, and half the time it just won't load the characters but everything else runs fine.
