There should at least be the option in the world generator to switch between old (pre caves update) and new ore generation, or maybe even a way to select the release version in minecraft bedrock like in java.

Because I still care for this game I did a little experiment, I went into a random seed in creative mode, where i luckily spawned next to some mountains i bombed my way down to bedrock and found 35 iron, about 25 coal and even 4 diamonds, (after a lot of tnt used in an unorganized fashion) and I also found a cave but it was flooded so I don‘t count that one bacause you can‘t explore that early game, then I tried the same thing but this time on level 64, (had to fly over 3000 blocks of ocean), but this time I dug one block wide straight down to bedrock and filled the hole with tnt and lighted the upper most block, now i found 17 iron, 6 copper and about 15 coal, no diamonds but a cave where I found iron number 17.

I think thats just not enough because in hardcore mode you don‘t have access to unlimited tnt and still that‘s not enough iron for what big of a hole I just blew trough the world and not enough coal, I would have to heavily relay on carcoal, for something as basic as torches.

My point is there aren‘t enough resources spawning as it is now.

I dug streight down (I know thats illegal, but I did it in 2 by 2) and the only thing I found in my whole journey to bedrock were 3 iron, non of these elusive caves, no diamonds (well but that was to be expected), no gold, no mineshaft, not even lava. I played the minecraft pocket edition when it was new and when I did that over there I would find all kinds of stuff, maybe you guys should completly overhaul ore generation.

I know that I’m complaining a lot here but I really think this is a problem, you tried to fix something that wasn‘t broken and like almost always when somebody does that, you made it worse than before. So if you really want to fix that „bug“, you have to bring back the old ore generation (and maybe remove copper, or at least make it useful in the early game).

Well this is what in my opinion would make hardcore mode possible in minecraft bedrock, forget about all the small bugs other people had 1/1000 times of loading a new hardcore world. I had no issues with my hardcore world and I‘m still alive even though I tested all that stuff out to proof that this iron shortage isn‘t a glitch (never had to kill this many creepers in so little days in minecraft hardcore, well normally you would try to avoid those without some armor or a shield, but I was lacking the nessesary iron, because I didn‘t use any of the little iron I found, because as far as I know it could be all the iron in existence.).

I‘ve someone actually read this far, I really don‘t want to hat on minecraft, it‘s just that as a beta tester I found something I think is much worse for the implementation of hardcore mode than those dieing right after world generation death glitches I was reading about and none seems to see the problem, Ireally hope someone who actually likes the game is reading this because I really want to like this game again. (Please don‘t argue that in java I could change the version back to where there was a feature where you could actually change ore generation at will before generating a new world and just make every block iron ore, because that would kinda defeat the purpose of beta testing, if you‘re not even listening to what your testers say.)

Good night everybody

Just to clarify that I‘m using the official Minecraft app, and yes it doesn't matter which seed I don’t seem to find any resources or anything interesting, in  the earlier Minecraft versions you could go into almost any seed and find millions of interesting structures and most important all the resources in all the right quantities, that to me was the status quo future Minecraft should be aiming for and I don‘t care if I‘m searching in the wrong places, vital resources shouldn't need a complicated guide to find them or using some farms, especially not for long year Minecraft fans, I started on very early Java but I think I stop now until I hear these problems with freedom in playing a game the way you like have been resolved.

I think I found the issue, iron spawns ar just too low, I strip mined some more and was able to find 2 more iron, after burning trough 3 stone pickaxes. Not only didn‘t I find much iron, I also still didn‘t find any cave, ravine or anything, the only thing I found was one village with 2 compasses, which I would have never been able to craft with this little iron, but I had this issue of iron shortage since the caves update, iron really shouldn‘t be that rare, I‘ve only reacently picked minecraft back up again after hearing, that the bedrock edition was getting hardcore mode, I even participated in the beta testing on android to check out I could find some major glitches, which would prevent hardcore mode from entering full release, I haven‘t found anything yet, my only problem is this iron shortage and I think I speak for many players from the old days of minecraft, when I say that there needs to be enough iron to normaly progress in the game or it gets frustratingly boring real fast. I was actually really excited to play hardcore mode but I think I have to stop playing until I hear about som kind of more iron update or the addition of version changes in bedrock until then then, I‘m sorry but, this is too frustrating.

My coordinates are 63, 49, -71, and the seed is 1281463774813715676.

This may be a bad comparison, but I started a new world on my ps vita and after digging diagonally for 1 minute i found a cave, some coal and enough iron to start a playtrough.

I was playing on hardcore mode, as I was digging diagonally for quite some time, I found nothing but like 2 raw iron, then I tried digging straight, on a level where iron should occur, also to no prevail apart from like 7 coal, then I dug a vertical two by two shaft till I hit bedrock and all I found were 5 raw iron. I don‘t know if I was just perfectly dodging everything or if iron has gotten as rare as diamond, but it sure makes surviving and progressing a whole lot harder than it already is. Maybe you should look into that.

PS: I play Minecraft since 2014 and I never had this much trouble finding anything muchless iron. Apart from that I‘m really happy that hardcore mode is finally getting implemented into Minecraft Bedrock Edition. (I can‘t wait to be blown up by one sneaky creeper and losing another hardcore world.😉)
