No caves or ores in world

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Build a shelter and start digging diagonaly down.
2. Dig vertically down.
3. Dig streight at the required altitude.
4. Start to strip mine at the required altitude.

Observed Results:
I haven’t been able to find any iron or cave or anything for that matter, not even coal.

Expected Results:
To find enough iron to make some basic tools and some coal to make torches, just like it used to be in old Minecraft.

I was playing on hardcore mode, as I was digging diagonally for quite some time, I found nothing but like 2 raw iron, then I tried digging straight, on a level where iron should occur, also to no prevail apart from like 7 coal, then I dug a vertical two by two shaft till I hit bedrock and all I found were 5 raw iron. I don‘t know if I was just perfectly dodging everything or if iron has gotten as rare as diamond, but it sure makes surviving and progressing a whole lot harder than it already is. Maybe you should look into that.

PS: I play Minecraft since 2014 and I never had this much trouble finding anything muchless iron. Apart from that I‘m really happy that hardcore mode is finally getting implemented into Minecraft Bedrock Edition. (I can‘t wait to be blown up by one sneaky creeper and losing another hardcore world.😉)

In the seed provided, near the stated coordinates, there is a cave that goes down to a mineshaft with abundant ores visible in the walls at 137, -71, 190.

I am resolving this report as Invalid - Feedback. Please see the link in the pinned comment for a chart of ore distribution post-1.18. It differs quite a lot from older versions of Minecraft.

I created a copy of the world (seed 1281463774813715676) and used commands to remove all the grass, dirt, gravel, stone, andesite, diorite, granite, deepslate, tuff, and smooth basalt in the chunk where Linic666 said he had dug. Next I surveyed each kind of ore and deepslate ore to locate its highest and lowest blocks. Finally I replaced each kind of ore with air in order to get a count (normal+deepslate ore). Here are the results:

This information appears to be consistent with the ore distribution chart linked in an earlier comment, to the extent that all ore blocks found are within the published ranges. However, the complete lack of copper and coal above Y=55 is unexpected, though statistically it's credible. But in any case, there is much more iron that Linic666 didn't happen to find.

I have also found it much more difficult to find iron at Y levels I'm used to from releases before 1.18. Looking at the ore distribution chart, this shouldn't be surprising, as iron ore is now less than half as frequent between Y=0 and Y=56. Instead, Mojang now makes small amounts available near the surface and much more available at higher altitudes (Y > 150 or so) and lower depths (iron veins below Y=0). This is probably in support of their publicly stated intention to encourage more exploration.
