This has been happening on my son's iPad for close to a month. He launches Minecraft (1.20.13) then it will get through the Minecraft loading screen and load the main menu. Just as it completes rendering his character the app crashes/exists.
He can launch Minecraft fine if he turns off Wifi.
I've tried completely wiping his iPad to setup as new with no success. The above still occurs.
This is on the latest version of iPadOS, 9th Gen iPad and has over 20gb off free storage.
@JYN2018X as others and myself have noted most of us are running iPadOS 16. It may not be systemic across all iPads but it is a big issue. My sons iPad hasn't been able to play online for over a month. I'm pretty technical and I've tried everything that narrows it down to a problem with Minecraft software and/or services.
