In case this helps anyone else, I’ve found on my device (iPad Air 13-inch M3 running iPad OS 26.7) that the issue for me was a single setting. Deleting the options.txt file would always allow me to successfully open the app, but I had to do this every time and then reset all my settings from scratch. After doing some searching online, I went into the options file and changed the number on the line for gamma_calibration to 1 (gamma_calibration:1) and that seems to be a permanent fix, as now I can open the game successfully every time. I hate the gamma settings, but that’s a small price to pay to not have to reset all of my settings each time I open the app. YMMV, but figured I’d share.
NOTE: my version of the failure was NOT the immediate visible crash or white screen—the game would open to the menu page, but nothing worked beyond that, and I noticed it always skipped the initial Mojang loading animation before loading the menu, so I think the game wasn’t actually loading, despite showing me the menu. I don’t know if just setting the gamma calibration to 1 works for the other version of this failure. I tried to create a separate ticket for the way mine failed, but it got flagged as a duplicate, so either they are the same or they are over-deleting, no clue. Good luck!
Jenny, I guess I wouldn’t classify something as simply a “graphical problem” like that bug report describes, since it was impossible to load the game past the menu screen (which is to say, you can’t actually play it, alter the settings, or do anything at all besides stare at the useless menu screen all day), but good to know it’s not related to this issue. With Mojang telling us nothing, I appreciate the explanation, thanks!
