I don't get any eggs or milk either. Fun game anyways, but those items are really important for the game.

I succeeded in solving my problem with the portal (in a game with cheating on) by eating chorus fruit - it teleported me away from the broken portal to the end city. It's just one more issue to solve - that fruit grows on only one place in the game - you know where, end city of course.
