It's not a bug ? Since the 1.8 Minecraft version it doesn't work.
It work as intended ? it's intended to have a bug ? I don't know ...

5 months later in 1.8.1 Minecraft version, the bug still exists ... :/
The bug haven't to be write as "resolved"
I can confirm this being fixed in the latest snapshot as well.
I still encounter the issue on the 1.5.2 pre-release.
I have a Radeon HD 7450 as my graphics card, and this happens to me as well. Optifine seemed to worked until I installed Forge.
