My sons iPad is having this issue as well.
Mojang, Is anyone working on this? Has this bug been confirmed? Please communicate. I cannot play this game at all.
I created a new account. It seemed to be running. I was able to run the game and add friends though I never loaded a server. I closed the game and texted a friend that it was working. When I reopened the game it crashes again with in 5 seconds. I can’t play the game at all. I wasn’t on Wi-Fi at the time so I tried loaded while I was on Wi-Fi. It didn’t make any difference. My phone is less than 3 months old. Everything has been updated. Every app and the latest operating system. What can I do?
This is not resolved for me. I had this trouble on an older device. I bought a brand new iPhone 14 and got two months didn’t have issues. Now after no new downloads or updates, seeming like out of the blue, my game crashes within 5-10 seconds of opening it. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it. It I don’t sign in as myself the app works. As soon as I sign in through Xboxlive it crashes. I can’t play anything.
I had this very problem on a different device. I bought a new phone because of this problem. Two months later it’s happening again on my brand new iPhone 14 pro. If I delete the game and don’t sign in with my login name the app works fine. It’s something tied to my Xboxlive account.

I have been playing realms servers. It’s the only kind of server I can have since I have to delete the app constantly. I have one of my own and one I play with the friend.
It’s still happening in 1.19.80. It doesn’t seem any different. I open the game and at any point from the load screen to playing in a server the game will crash. It doesn’t do it every time. I have deleted the app and redownloaded it probably a hundred times since this started. It’s the only way I can get the crashing to stop long enough get into a server and play. Fortunately I accidentally lost all my servers before this so I only use realms now. Turning off Wi-Fi and loading the game first helps but it doesn’t always work.
I got it. I was able to save my old server to the cloud through the ‘files’ app, then delete the game. I reinstalled it and downloaded the new update. Then I pulled my old servers from the cloud and placed them in the new Minecraft folders. It was a little nerve racking but it worked.
I have three devices. I’ve looked on all of them. One of them downloaded this pack and it updated the game without any trouble. Two of the devices can’t download it. I deleted the app on one of them because the servers would not be missed. I don’t want to delete the app on the last device because the long standing servers will be lost. I can no longer play with others without this update though. I get an error message about an unupdated client. I would gladly update this through the App Store. I think it would work better.

I deleted the app from the iPad. Then reinstalled it and it was able to download the way of the nether.
I am also having this problem.
I’ve tried again several times this morning. The game freezes on the first load screen every time. I can’t even load the game.
This keeps happening to me and my two kids. I can’t even get through the start up load screen most of the time without it freezing. It is completely unplayable at the moment. When I can play for about 2 mins it is most likely to freeze when I open my inventory or bring up a different screen other than the game playing. But it does freeze during game play.
Yes it is the latest and same version.
