Comments

There is no reason to transfer the ownership. And, I would like the ownership transferred back to me. Changing the owner of an issue is unprofessional. If you want to comment then do that. If you want to close this bug then do that. Simply scrambling the metadata for an issue accomplishes nothing.

I am not an inactive owner. I reported the bug four years ago. And I have no obligation to Microsoft to shepherd their bug. If they want to ignore it then that is their problem.

Just a heads-up, the status of this bug was changed to won't fix. The best you can do is to vote on or create a suggestion in their feedback portal. For example:

I was not affected between July 19 and yesterday. I am not sure what triggers it.

I know it is a different issue. But since they coincide, it suggests they have a common cause and this would narrow the possible sources of error.

How would I know if it is affecting anyone else? That is what public bug reporting is for. I expect it is affecting other people since it is Realms and Vanilla.

I have a fully upgraded diamond shovel. Sometimes invisible dirt blocks remain when I use it. The invisible blocks and increased hunger seem to coincide.

The issue is continuing today. I logged off several times. I closed the realm. And the server rebooted.

This issue did not happen to me for a long time. During that time, I was eating bread. I ate some pork and my exhaustion was high while pork was the last thing I ate. My rate of exhaustion went back to normal after eating apples. my exhaustion rate has remained high since then. I have not logged off since eating pork.

We have a hotel and we idle in there. There are two horses 4m below where I am. There is a villager about 25m away. There is an underground monster farm with zombies and captured villagers about 147m away. There are a few wild sheep and pigs in the area around the hotel.

I do not see anything in the patch notes that makes it sound like the rate of exhaustion or the foodTickTimer were intentionally changed. We are not regenerating. This is idle at full health.

1.9
Scoreboard
Added five new objective types: XP, hunger, oxygen, armor and level.
"food" can be used to track the hunger level of the player (ranges from
0 to 20).
Health
Health regenerates faster when saturation is not empty and the player
is not hungry: 1 (Half Heart.svg) per half-second versus 1 (Half
Heart.svg) per 4 seconds.
Health regeneration increases exhaustion faster: now 4 exhaustion points
(1 food point) per 1 (Half Heart.svg) instead of 3 (3⁄4 food points).
Sneaking now increases exhaustion by half as much as walking
MC-76620 – Abnormal Food Regeneration Appearance
Chorus Fruit
Can be eaten even if the player is not hungry, similar to golden apples.
Teleports the player to a random nearby location when eaten (like an
enderman).
Does not heal hunger points if the hunger bar is full.
Otherwise it will heal 4 (Hunger.svgHunger.svg).
It has a cool down time every time they are eaten, like ender pearls.
MC-43601 – Hunger is lost when standing in close proximity to mobs /
stat.walkOneCm increases.
Popped chorus fruit
Cannot be eaten.

Husk
Applies hunger when attacking, duration depends on raw regional
difficulty.
Duration is 7 × floor(RegionalDifficulty) seconds
Hunger is only applied if the Husk has an empty hand.

I am running 1.8.9 Vanilla. I was playing on single-player survival. I have a stone axe with Efficiency IV, Fortune III and Unbreaking III. I used it a few times and saw the durability bar appear. A short while later I noticed the durability bar had disappeared indicating the axe had full durability again. You probably would not notice small changes in durability while the bar is in the middle of its range. But it is obvious when a tool is resurrected or when the bar disappears. Based on these reports, the game seems to randomly update durability for Unbreaking tools. I don't think this is a special case just for destroyed tools. I know that there are background checks that randomly update blocks. What routine can destroy a tool? And are there any background routines that affect tools? In my experience, there is always a random delay before the durability is increased.
