It has been two hours and trying to connect to Realms still gives the (429) error message. What's up with the Realm servers?

Our group of 4 players have been hitting this problem once to twice a day over the past three days. The problem is intermittent, but when it occurs it seems to last for at least 10-20 minutes. One outage was a couple of hours. Other websites work and we can watch movies – this does not appear to be a local internet connection problem.
