A version of this bug is happening to us too. Although we progress beyond the Mojang screen to the main screen. It takes a few minutes to get to the main screen. On this screen music plays but everything else freezes.
Our set up
up to date PS4
acquired software from disc. Then upgraded online.
I am a software engineer. So if anyone from the Mojang (or anyone else) wants to explain where I can get logging or other diagnostics that may help debug the issue I am quite prepared to help out. Just let me know what I need to do.
Like many others we are reluctant to blow away worlds stored on the PS4 for a full reinstall.
We managed a work around.
backed up the worlds we definitely did NOT want to lose. There were 3. We chose to back up to PS+ online. Although it looked like you could do it to USB thumb drive too.
deleted Minecraft app from PlayStation
reinstalled Minecraft onto PlayStation from disc
applied update to latest from internet
Minecraft then worked.
We didn't lose any saved worlds. Even though we only explicitly backed up 3 worlds to PS+ all 8 original worlds were visible and working after the re-install.
Hope others get theirs working too.
